Indoor Air Quality

Let us assist you with your air quality needs

Airborne germs and surface mold colonies exist in today’s airtight indoor environment, accounting for indoor pollution which could be greater than the outdoor.
The coils and air ducts of HVAC systems often are the breeding grounds for pathogenic bacteria and allergenic and toxic fungal contaminants that can cause allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems.

Here Are the Facts:

Most people recognize the health concerns that outdoor air pollution poses, but few consider that exposure to poor indoor air quality has the same ill health effects.
  • The quality of indoor air can be two to five times (and even up to 100 times) more polluted than the worst outside air.
  • The EPA has ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental dangers. The Environmental Protection Agency has recognized that poor indoor air pollution is a very real problem and ranked it among the top of the environmental dangers facing the public.
  • There has been an alarming increase in the number of children with severe allergies and asthma. The amount of children and young adults with severe allergies and asthma continues to climb every year. This has been linked to increasingly poor indoor air quality.
  • Sources of indoor air pollution are all around you. Studies conducted by the EPA have shown that indoor air pollution is a problem for all types of homes, whether in a dense urban city or a rural town. Some of the sources include:
  • Combustion sources: gas, oil, kerosene and wood stoves or fireplaces, tobacco smoke
  • Building materials: insulation, carpet, cabinetry, pressed wood products
  • Chemical products: cleaning products, personal care products, glues, pastes
  • Outdoor sources: radon, pesticides, pollen, outdoor air pollution
  • Other: pet dander, dust mites, mold, virus

Solution 1: UV Light

Get informed:
The UV lights are rated for Air systems 1-5 tons kills up to 99.9% of existing mold, mildew and airborne viruses and will prevent them from ever growing again and spreading. by killing and preventing airborne contaminants you will be less susceptible to allergies, asthma, breathing problems, headaches, dizziness, neurological problems and other long-term health problems caused by mold, mildew and airbone viruses. All the units offered have an electronic ballast and has a sight glass to see if unit is on. All the bulbs are germicidal UVC and put out 253.7NM which means that they are 99% efficent on a single pass.

Product information:
The TopTech TT-AK24R Air Knight REME is designed to help eliminate sick building syndrome by reducing odors, air pollutants, VOCs (chemical odors), smoke, mold bacteria and viruses. The Air Knight REME is easily mounted into air conditioning and heating system air ducts where many sick building problems start. When the HVAC system is in operation the Air Knight REME creates an Advanced Oxidation Process consisting of: Hydro-peroxides, super oxide ions and hydroxide ions, all of which are friendly oxidizers that revert back to oxygen and hydrogen after the oxidation of the pollutant.

Solution 2: Enhanced Media Filter

Get informed:
Filters are classified by what is known as the ERV Rating. The acronym MERV stands for "Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value". The MERV rating is the standard method for comparing the efficiency of an air filter. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at removing particles from the air. The MERV scale ranges from 1 (least efficient) to 16 (most efficient), and measures a filter's ability remove particles from 3 to 10 microns in size. Filters with higher ratings not only remove more particles from the air, they also remove smaller particles. A typical fiberglass furnace filter might be rated from 1 to 4 on the MERV scale. A HEPA filter would be rated a 16. (However, the HEPA requirements are substantially more stringent than a MERV rating of 16 -- therefore, filters with a MERV rating of 16 are not necessarily HEPA-compliant.)

Product information:
Nordic Pure MERV 12 rated plus carbon pleated AC air filters are made of a new dual material where MERV rated material has been fused together with a carbon layer. The M12 pleated with carbon air filter will give you 33% more activated carbon with less air restriction than the traditional flat panel carbon plus pleated filter. The activated charcoal will help control those unwanted odors from pets, smoking and many more. Each time air passes through a Nordic Pure pleated furnace filter, lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, smog, mold spores and germs from coughing or sneezing are removed. Our treated synthetic filter media prevents the growth of bacteria or mold, resulting in a much healthier living space. MERV 12 air filters are comparable to air filters with the MPR rating of 1500-1900. Particles in indoor air are measured in microns, which are 1/1000 of a millimeter (a human hair is about 70 microns wide). Each Nordic Pure MERV 12 air filter will capture more than 90% of 3.0-10.0 micron contaminants and up to 90% of 1.0-3.0 micron contaminants. This high performance HVAC replacement filter will outperform non-electrostatic fiber-glass filters, washable filters, poly disposable filters, and will help keep your air conditioning and heating systems running efficiently, saving you money on utilities and costly maintenance. The effective life of your air filter depends on both the inside and outside conditions in which you live. We recommend that you change your air filter every 30-90 days to maintain maximum efficiency and economy.

Solution 3: UV light/Electronic/Media Filter Combination

Get informed:
Get Informed: Electronic air cleaners, sometimes referred to as ionizers or electronic air purifiers, use electrically charged filters to reduce the number of airborne contaminants in your home. As air passes through your heating and cooling system, the electronic air cleaner traps large particles (such as dust and dander) in a prefilter. Then, electrically charged filters attract and trap smaller particles (such as bacteria and mold) to prevent them from recirculating through your home. The electronic filter uses the same principle of electrically charging particles that pass through a filter. However, while the electrostatic method relies on a charge created by static electricity (electrostatic), the electronic method uses a high-voltage electric charge created by an electronic high-voltage “transformer” that draws power from an external source. Electronic filters use a high voltage electrode arrangement to charge the particles that are then attracted to a grounded surface, also referred to as a ground plane, collection plate, or ground electrode. This strategy provides effective filtering, but if the collection device is not maintained periodically, it becomes coated with a layer of particles, decreasing electrical conductivity and filtering effectiveness. Uncollected charged particles that pass through the HVAC system accumulate on register grills, walls, and ceilings. The charging of the particles by a high voltage electrode can also produce minimal amounts of ozone. At these small l levels it should not increase system corrosion or lead to increased allergen levels or asthma, however, contractors should inform customers about the possible effects of ozone in case a problem does occur and teach the maintenance of electronic filter systems to their owners. For example, the Honeywell F300 Electronic Air Cleaner should only add 0.005 PP ozone to the steady state indoor air level.

Product information:
Product Information: F300 optimizes efficiency with airflow capturing up to 98 percent of particles that pass through it. It operates with all gas, oil and electric forced warm air furnaces and AC systems, and is available in four sizes to fit most ducts. Media post-filter provides enhanced filtration on select models. Solid state power supply is self-regulating and maintains peak efficiency during a wide range of cell dirt loading conditions. Low-profile door with test button to check system operation. Helps filter efficiency-robbing "gunk" before it coats critical system parts. Very low pressure drop

I received the expertise of Greg after a previous company left me worse off than when I called for help with my AC. Greg arrived on time, was professional, courteous and figured out the problem with my unit in a matter of minutes. He explained in detail what the issue was and how he was going to fix it. Then, He did. He was in and out in an hour or so. I'm so happy to have met him and would recommend him and his company to anyone who needs ac repair. Thank you Greg!
